Sun Match commenced operations by introducing safety wax matches, setting a new standard for safety and quality in the Sri Lankan market.

1987
Sun Match proudly obtained the Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) certification on April 15th and remains the only safety match company to achieve this distinction, while also commencing the first export operation to Singapore.

Sun Match's commitment to quality and innovation has propelled us to the forefront of the industry, capturing a commanding 60% share of the safety match market.

Sun Match, through its AFOMA division, executed turnkey projects to establish state-of-the-art manufacturing units in Madagascar and Kenya, partnering with the Pioneer Group of Companies, Sivakasi, India.

Sun Match expanded its exports to Qatar and UK marking its global reach.

Sun Match set the standard by being the first to achieve the ISO 9001 2000 certification, while being the only Sri Lankan Safety Match Company in Asia Pacific Association to achieve this milestone.

Became the first company in the category to have obtained “Soorya Sinha logo” from his Excellency Mahinda Rajapakse the President of Sri Lanka certifying it to manufacture a National Product.

Sun Match expanded its lineup to seven new incense stick variants.

2018
The Sri Lankan Chamber of Small and Medium Industry presented the National Recognition for Industrial Excellence to Sun Match.

2020
With its distinctive dripless characteristic, the firm entered the candle industry during Sri Lanka's power outages and crises, introducing two varieties of Soorya dripless candles, while introducing all-purpose disinfectants under the new SUN brand, which stands for "healthy life, healthy nation," during the pandemic, while introducing Sunonline, an online store, that was launched to provide goods from groceries to personal hygiene to the client's home.

Sun Match brought innovation to Sri Lanka, offering the first and only SLS-certified Sun All-Purpose Disinfectants alongside the Sun Citrus Herbal Mosquito Repellent Lotion, providing 8-12 hours of chemical-free mosquito protection.
